Consider Me

A Couple Tall Boots, Greyshack Films production. (Worldwide sales: Submarine Films, New You'll be able to.) Produced by Mike S. Ryan, Blythe Robertson, Lauren Ambrose. Executive producers, Peter C. Selig, Brent Stiefel. Co-producer, Alicia Van Couvering. Directed, put together by Bryan Wizemann. With: Lauren Ambrose, Audrey Scott, Dylan Baker, Penelope Ann Burns, David Conrad, Adina Porter, Craig Gray.Money worries tempt a feckless single mother within the finish of her tether to produce another bad decision in downbeat, Las vegas-set indie drama "Consider Me" from helmer-author Bryan Wizemann. A fancy vehicle for producer-star Lauren Ambrose, whose psychologically volatile character comes off as unsympathetic and practically bipolar, the excessively contrived, hard-to-swallow script undermines viewer empathy. Further fest exposure will most likely segue by-viewing formats. Although her cash is precarious, thirtysomething divorcee Angela (Ambrose) frequently ignores view of her situation, ordering taxis, buying pricey mixed drinks, and impulsively taking a minimum wage cleaning job throughout the evening although she barely handles her call-center day work. Her 8-year-old daughter Sunny (Audrey Scott) is suffering from Angela's chaotic existence, sometimes neglected to the level of endangerment. The particularly forced final reel finds Angela considering a cash offer within the sister (Penelope Ann Burns) of office friend Max (Dylan Baker, creepy) to think about Sunny off her hands. Most credible elements will be the moody pictures -- which entirely avoid sunlight -- nailing the claustrophobic, artificial atmosphere in the neon-by-evening, fluorescent-by-day desert city, as well as the quietly natural thesping of child-star-in-the making Scott.Camera (color, HD), Mark Schwartzbard editor, Michael Taylor music, Rob Sophistication production designer, Brandon Tonner-Connelly costume designer, Deborah Newhall. Examined at Toronto Film Festival (Contemporary World Cinema), Sept. 10, 2011. Running time: 103 MIN. Contact the number newsroom at news@variety.com
